Jake Hartbarger is an Associate at SURMOUNT. Jake joined SURMOUNT in 2026 and specializes in the acquisition and disposition of single tenant net-leased properties nationwide, with a focus on gas and convenience stores. He advises private investors, developers, and tenants across the U.S.

Prior to working with SURMOUNT, Jake worked at Pegasus Asset Management as a Portfolio Manager, where he oversaw a 300-property portfolio nationwide. His experience included leading a team of four asset managers, overseeing portfolio-wide collections, executing CapEx projects for value-add acquisitions, and managing asset-level legal matters. He later worked at Lee & Associates, advising clients on retail leasing and NNN investment transactions, with total lease consideration exceeding $15 million.

Jake earned a B.A. in Hospitality Business and an M.S. in Marketing Research from Michigan State University, with a minor in Real Estate Investment Management. While at Michigan State, he was a member of the football team and part of the 2015 Big Ten Championship team. He currently resides in San Diego, California.
